Not only did San Diego's torrential rain this past winter wreak havoc on the site amenity, it also created impromptu lazy rivers throughout all our chilled water pipe trenches on campus. At one point the 60" deep trench was overflowing with rain water.
Our pipe fitter team installed 80' of welded pipe in the trench running down the drive aisle only to have all the compacted earth/sand washed out by the rain. It was an exercise in futility and humility having to remove the pipes, recompact, and re-install.
Beyond just a brand new chiller yard, the campus has installed 2 emergency generators (1 that feeds both 3390/94, and 1 that feeds 3398). The larger of the 2 is 400kW, and the smaller is 200kW.
If the project includes site work, and it is any where within the realm of the rainy season, be sure to check to see if your master schedule has time accounted for delay.
Also, keep your fingers crossed you don't run into existing tenants that won't let you work during the normal business hours.
